Army Institute of Nursing, Guwahati was established in the year 2006 under aegis of Army Welfare Education Society for the wards of serving and ex servicemen of Indian Army with a annual intake of 50 students for B Sc Nursing course and 20 students for M Sc Nursing course per year. As a welfare measure, towards people residing in North East Region, 10% seats are reserved for the civilian students (girls) who are domicile of seven North East States. It was a landmark in the history of Nursing Education when this college was inaugurated on 07 Aug 2006 by Gen J J Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, the then Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

AIN, Guwahati is functioning under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) which is managing 134 Army Public Schools, 246 Army Pre Primary Schools and 12 Professional Colleges throughout the country.

Nursing is a profession influenced by advances in science and technology and as such AIN prepares students to be professionals in nursing and health care and enthuse in them the spirit to serve humanity with DEDICATION, DEVOTION and DILIGENCE.

The Institute is recognised by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and Assam Nurses Midwives’ and Health Visitors’ Council, Assam and is affiliated to the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Assam.

214 students have passed out from this Institute so far. Presently 187 B Sc Nursing students and 12 M Sc Nursing students are undergoing Nursing courses in this Institute. Institute has an excellent 100% placement record till first graduating batch.
